Obituary for Nancy E. Beightol (Sterling)
Nancy E. Sterling Beightol, 74, of Erie, passed away Monday January 16, 2023 at St. Vincent Health Center following an extended battle with cancer and a brief battle with Guillain-Barre syndrome. She was born in Townville, PA on July 21, 1948 a daughter of the late Clair and Virginia Wright Sterling.
Nancy graduated from Townville High School and worked as a custodian at Union City Hospital and at military hospitals while her husband served in the United States Air Force. Most recently she worked as a custodian at the Erie International Airport. She enjoyed going to bars and listening to country music, collecting frog figurines, and spending time with her family and dogs.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald D. Beightol, and her granddaughter, Katrina Wiler.
Survivors include her children, Danelle Dylon (Jacob) of Union City, Stephanie Miller (Jeffrey) of Corry, Susan Snyder (Melvin) of Sheffield, PA, and Joseph Peterson of Erie; her chosen family, Angela Feeney (Timothy) of Millcreek and Kathy McClellan of Summit; nine grandchildren, Jasper, Mercedes, Andrew, Daniel, Wesley, Cody, Jacob, Devin, and Kara; many great grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Papotnik (Larry) of Virginia, Alma Geer (Greg) of Canadohta Lake, and Lena Edwards of Union City; two brothers, David Sterling of Canadohta Lake and Wayne Sterling of Waterford; her beloved dog, Gunner; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
