Obituary for Mary Ann Biebel

Mary Ann Allgeier Biebel, 92, of Waterford, ascended to Heaven surrounded by family on Sunday January 15, 2023. She was born in Erie on January 6, 1931, daughter of the late Anthony P. and Marie M. Nies Allgeier.

Mary Ann graduated from St. Benedict Academy in 1949 and raised a beautiful family with her beloved husband in their historic 18th century home. Mary Ann poured her heart into working on her family's dairy and potato farm. She thrived as owner of Mound Grove Golf Course where she was known as "Gram" and universally loved. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and enjoyed adventurous traveling, bird watching, and was an avid crocheter of afghans for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward N. Biebel, Sr.; one daughter, Diane Biebel; two brothers, John Allgeier (Florence) and Richard Allgeier, Sr. (Helen); and her brother in law, Dennis Husted.

Survivors include three daughters, Patti Biebel (Robert Jackson) of Florida, Mary VanTassel (Bill) of Wattsburg, and Julie Biebel of Mentor on the Lake, OH; six sons, Paul E. Biebel (Betsy) of Erie, Gregory J. Biebel (Sonja) of Waterford, Terry Biebel (Lisa) of Buckeye, AZ, Tom Biebel (Debbie Leasure) of Buckeye, AZ, Edward N. Biebel II (Stephanie) of Greene Twp., and Eric Biebel (Kim) of Elon, NC; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Therese Husted, of Greene Twp.; one brother, Tom Allgeier, of Greene Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
