Obituary for Ruth "Aunt Ruthie" Stiles (Hull)
Ruth "Aunt Ruthie" Hull Stiles, 78, of Greene Township, passed away Sunday February 19, 2023 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on June 26, 1944 a daughter of the late Cecil E. and Wilma Bonnell Hull.
Ruthie graduated from Academy High School. She earned her B.A. in Education from Mercyhurst College and her Master's in education from Edinboro College. She worked as a teacher at St. George Catholic School for two years, the Erie School District for 31 years, and most recently at St. Boniface Catholic School for two years until her retirement in 1997. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Squaws and Paws Western Square Dancers for 50 years. She was an honorary member of 16 other square dance clubs in the Erie area, including the last active group the Presque Isle Dancers. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, traveling, doll collecting, sudoko, and volunteering at St. Boniface.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her nephews, Jeff Biletnikoff and Brian Biletnikoff; her niece, Amy Hull; her great niece, Mallory Palmer; and her dear aunt, Genevieve Meehan.
Survivors include her husband, Louis L. Stiles; her sister, Cecilia "Cece" Biletnikoff of Waterford; two brothers, Warren G. Hull of Erie and Gary J. Hull of Oklahoma; five nieces; five nephews; 23 great nieces and nephews; and seven great, great nieces and nephews; and her special lifelong friend, Becky Miller.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
