Obituary for JoAnn Amore (Galati)
JoAnn Galati Amore, 74, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday May 31, 2023. She was born in Buffalo, NY on January 18, 1949 a daughter of the late Joseph Galati, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Williams Galati.
JoAnn worked for Erie Insurance in the Life Insurance and Worker's Compensation Departments, mostly as a group life specialist, for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the CYS Club. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed card-making. She was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. "Butch" Amore; her granddaughter in infancy, Josephine Mineo; and her stepbrother, Vincent Galati.
Survivors include one son, Edward J. Amore (Lisa O'Toole); three daughters, Kelly Amore (Thomas Coughlin), Lisa Greenman (John), and Kathleen Mineo; five grandchildren, Giovanni Hellman, Kristopher and Asher Mineo, and Beaumont and Dezmond Shaffer; two sisters, Janice Jensen (Richard) of Carlisle, PA and Carmella Hanley of Rotterdam Junction, NY; one brother, Joseph Galati, Jr. (Darlene) of Jamestown, NY; her sister in law, Carol Galati, of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lakeland Area Hospice, 4635 E Lake Rd, Erie, PA 16511.
